Anger

Anger is something that we all have to deal with in our lives.
The Bible tells us in Ephesians 4:26 “When angry do not sin, do not ever let your wrath last until the sun goes down.” It doesn’t say if you get angry, it says when angry do not sin. I don’t believe that being angry is a sin but like this verse says be angry and sin not.
Lets look at an example of how anger caused Cain to sin against his own brother Able in the book of Genesis. Able was a shepherd and Cain was a farmer and it says that Able would bring the firstborn of his flock and offer them as a sacrifice to the Lord and the Lord respected Able for his offerings. Cain offered the Lord the first fruit from the ground and the Lord did not respect his offering and this made Cain angry. The Bible says the Lord saw that Cain was angry and warned him in Genesis 4:7 that “sin crouches at your door, its desire is for you but you must master it”. Cain did not listen to Gods warning and allowed his anger to master him and he gave into that sin and killed his brother.
Genesis 4:7 refers to anger as sin crouching at his door. Satan wants to destroy your life and anger is just one of the many ways he will try to do it just like he did to Cain. Unresolved anger in your life can cause you to be violent or even murder, bring thoughts of suicide, cause bitterness, stress, frustration, hate, cause you to use drugs and alcohol to escape pain, lead to gossip and a negative attitude. These are just some of the many consequences of unresolved anger in your life. You must get rid of it. This is a spiritual battle that you have to fight. You can’t just try to be nice. You have to fight it.
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 10:5 to “take every thought captive and bring it into submission to the Holy Spirit”. Ask the Lord for help and submit yourself to the Holy Spirit for strength. Stay plugged into the Lord through prayer, and by reading His Word. Remember greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.
