Fear is something we’ve all had to deal with at some point in our lives. Maybe you struggled with a fear of heights, snakes, spiders, even germs. Maybe you’re afraid of failing, or losing someone you love, or even dying. No matter what fear you have had to face, know that you don’t have to face it alone.

I have always struggled with fear, probably more so than the average person. I would quickly give into my fears and let them control my thoughts and actions. I wasn’t fully giving myself (my thoughts, my actions) to Christ, and I was letting my fear keep me imprisoned.

There are few things that can control you as much as fear can. In some ways, it can be like a powerful drug. If you give into it a little, it can quickly take over. There have been many times when I have let this hold me back from walking in faith.

There are several scriptures that I often refer to when I feel the spirit of fear rising up within me. Check them out:

Isaiah 41:10 –“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Romans 12:2 – “Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

2 Timothy 1:7- “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

2 Corinthians 10:5- “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

Scripture will be your biggest weapon against the spirit of fear. Don’t just read them, but meditate on them, let them really sink in.  I hope these verses help you as much as they have helped me.

I have been really trying to overcome my own fears lately and I realized I was doing it on my own and not trying to use the Word and now that I read this I see I have been doing it all wrong. Thank you so much for posting this it really encouraged me. I will use this Scriptures and write them on my mirror so when I wake up in the morning I will see them!
