Christian Hosoi grew up in Los Angeles County, started skating at the age of five, and turned professional for Sims skateboards by age thirteen. During the 80s Christian emerged as one of the world’s most respected and talented skateboarders. Sponsorship provided the opportunity to travel globally, and with that came fame and fortune. The early 90s, however, produced the untimely recession of ramp skating, and life as Christian knew it would turn for the worst. Facing an ever growing addiction to drugs, Christian was arrested for possession at the Honolulu International Airport in January of 2000. Christian was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison and was returned to San Bernardino, California for incarceration.
While in prison Hosoi gave his life to Christ. In June of 2004 his sentence was reduced for good behavior, and he was released on parole. Christian Hosoi is currently an Associate Pastor with The Sanctuary Church in Huntington Beach, California. He has many accomplishments in skateboarding, including a recent TransWorld SKATEboarding Legend Award and a gold medal at X Games 15. He is married and has 4 children. Christian travels worldwide with “The Uprising” and has toured with Luis Palau and the Livin It outreach crusades, sharing with thousands his life story of God’s love and restoration. Christian’s sponsors are Quiksilver, Vans, Hosoi Skateboards, Rocket wheels, Independent trucks, Nixon watches, Skullcandy headphones, Pro-Tec helmets, Ninja bearings, and Ogio backpacks.
